THE REBIRTH OF AGNETA
![]()
|
Born in 1948 in Stockholm, from the Swedish architect Knud Reimers' hands, Agneta is without a doubt one of the most beautiful yachts existing in the circuit of the classics. With her hull made of varnished mahogany and her rigging of "bermudian" yawl, characterized by two masts of unequal length on which are set the recognizable triangular sails to their dark brown color, Agneta displays a line and elegance. The interior amenities of Agneta are a real symphony in the most varied uses of the woodworking. It marries teak, pear-tree, mahogany and spruce, giving to the whole an incomparable style. Agneta became famous by the owner who loved it for more than 20 years, the Italian manufacturer Gianni Agnelli, but also by her charts: she is a sailboat that goes fast, that has led the hard way in regatta and taken back some trophies. After Agnelli era, Agneta joined the waters of Sardinia in 1981, at the time of her acquisition by the count Dona Delle Rose, before becoming later the property of the Italian architect Giuseppe Andolina. At this time, the boat went back along the Adriatic to Rimini, in the Carlini yard, to undergo a session of restoration there. Twenty years passed and the owners followed each other but Agneta is still there.
Indeed, hardly the season of the regattas 2000 finished,
Mr Engels restores to give back to this mythical yacht her glory and her
superb of yesterday. Since November 2000, Agneta is taken to pieces and
"powders her nose" in the yard of Beaulieu, on the French Riviera. |
